All in a name - Janzu/ Watsu/ Whichsu?

Just came across this post (June 21). Where was Caroline? She doesn't say. Sounds a lot like WaterDance to me or maybe Healing Dance Under or Janzu. Mexico? Thailand? Reading around it seems that it is 'more dynamic' so you can do it in cooler water ... any one come across this? Extract: Being in water makes… Continue

What do you think when you first think water?

The above is the question I've asked in a light-hearted Poll on my page on this site. So far almost everyone has voted 'spiritual' but I need more voters to get a better idea of the range in our network! Scroll down to the bottom of my profile page and let me know what you think. For the water, Sulis PS You can also add your own poll to your own page using the application you'll find there. It's easy to do and it can reflect your own interest in water issues. Continue

Water and Sound

Inspired by a comment from Christian Muller who has just joined the network, I thought I would post this extract from my own writings on sound and how it might be used in aquatic settings ... (Please add your own comments.) Water and sound are intimately linked - we find the rush of waves on a beach, the pounding of a waterfall, rain dripping off wet leaves, or a brook gurgling over rocks to be deeply soothing. Our univer… Continue

Break the Bottled Water Habit

Please consider joining me in this pledge to Break the Bottled Water Habit. Click on the new tap widget above. Or read more ... It's easy for me since I'm not in the habit and I also have access to rural well water that tastes delicious. But it's one way that as a society (and water folk) we can really make a difference. Everything we consume has a climate impact, but manufacturing and trucking water bottles to homes with clean tap water seems particularly wasteful. The Beverage Marketing Cor… Continue

Water = creativity

I've just been enjoying Rosemary Herlong's account of her Fabricapes (see Rosemary's blog photos). This is such a good example of the creative energy water can inspire. By not making a separation between these, we can keep energy moving. I'm currently working on a series of blogs in which I will be attempting this. My own training was scientific and my prof… Continue

Water as poetry

I'm intending to share more about the therapeutic aspects of aquatic bodywork here but first I'd like to indulge my passion for water.

For me, water is both metaphor and manifest; it is far more than a utilitarian substance. Scientists, philosophers and artists alike have pondered this.

If we can convey a little of the mystery of water in our aquatic therapy, we give ourselves and our clients a unique (and safe) opportunity to extend our boundaries.

In my work I… Continue
