I am interested in starting to work with kids that have Autistic Spectrum in my area. Any suggestions with any material I could read?
And anybody that has had results with Watsu and Autism?
Thanks
For pediatric aquatic therapists/instructors who work with children on the autism spectrum. We will be sharing our coolest treatment ideas and creating a mock protocol for the infant, toddler, and school aged child demonstrating autism traits.
I started as an Aquatic Therapist back in 1995, then was introduced to Watsu at the Washington Aquatic Symposium. Took the Watsu course in 1997 with Basia and became a practicioner. In 1999 I graduated in Physical Therapy Assisiting, and worked for 2 years. In 2008 I went to retake the Watsu courses with Minaski in the Keys, Fl. to regain my practicioners license.
Your discipline or title (PT, OT, CTRS, ATC, SLP, Watsu practitioner, adapted aquatics instructor, whatever!)

I have no idea yet - but if I do I would call in if you had time for my 11yr old in your space!!! Are you managing to do some Watsu finally - I'm half way through a course to refine new skills and awareness which is great but I have forgotten so much it seems.......getting there slowly! Believe me, I'd love to visit! ..mt
Thanks for finding me again! When do you want to organize an intro course?
We should talk. I was in West Palm yesterday! I still travel to South Florida frequently. I live in North Central FL now: Gainesville, near the University of FL.

New understanding of PTSD and the aquatic work of members Diane Tegtmeier and Inika Spence, indicate the potential application of aquatic therapy in healing trauma. This Group has been created to explore and promote that.
This group could explore, discuss and learn from each other the many benefits of working in warm water with the approach that humans have potential to recognize the potential for movement and alignment in the physical, emotional and energetic body.
