Any New York City based aquatic professionals out there?

I am a pediatric OT with an interest in aquatics. I would like to learn more about it, and it seems that seeing it happen is the first step. I am also considering a course but would like to observe or talk to someone first, if possible. Thanks!

Infant Swimming Resource---self-rescue swimming lessons for babies and toddlers.

Does anyone do this or have any opinions on this? It appears that you do not need a health care background before their training. It seems interesting, but expensive. Curious to hear others' takes on it.

Hi. I'm looking for an NYC based OT with experience in aqua therapy to work with a client of mine. I see from your profile that you were interested in learning this therapy about a year ago. Have you pursued this interest? Are you taking new clients?

Hi Linda,

There is a great opportunity coming up in MESA, ARIZONA. An Advanced Aquatic Summit will be presented in September 19-21 there (including programming by OT staff). Please see www.aquaticpt.org for details.
ALSO, there is some Pediatric Aquatic Programming by an OT in South Carolina and Texas this fall, as well. The Summit is sponsored by the American Physical Therapy Association Aquatic Section, but is open to other disciplines. Do you need more information? You may also try your professional organization. Primary concerns for most therapists and business owners is usually safety and risk management, but after that there is soooo much more to learn and of course, make your own. Please let me know if we need to talk!

I have known of persons who sponsored and taught caregivers and those being given care to share Watsu(R) It provides a sense of sharing and giving back for the caregiver to receive.... Other thought: to provide another opportunity nearby for the car…
