I'm happy to let you know that I met some wonderful people in Sedona last weekend who were measuring the effects of Reconnective Healing (which I was studying there) on batches of water placed around the room. Previously they've measured the effects…

So nice to hear, Sulis. Knowing it answers your questions and brings you more fully into the natural order of things is most satisfying. Yes, now it's the fun part of being a writer—knowing someone is reading it and getting something from it. I trus…

Thanks, Laura. The cover drawing was done by Ruth Richards, a Harbin resident. We worked together on ideas, she read the early draft of the book and showed up with the drawing just as I was ready to give the whole project up in frustration of ever g…

New, Natural Model for Ethics

I started writing Relationships that Heal to give aquatic bodywork practitioners a more effective guide to meeting the challenging situations we often face in our work. Peter Amato, creator of an integrative healing center calls it "a MUST READ for anyone who practices healing in today's world. For 10 years I've experienced the wonder and mystery of what can happen when we hold someone in our arms in unconditional love. Through stories from my practice (social work, energy healing and aqu… Continue

Congratulations on the publication of your book. I wish I'd known that too! How about putting a notice on this site about it? I'd be glad to write a review on my aquatic weblog also.

I'm afraid I'm just out the door now and will not be able to do a promo this time. I've been posting regular messages about the ATRI conference here and on my own blog (see Aquapoetics.com).

I'm hoping that my two presentations there (2 h talk and 3 h workshop) will be a good testing opportunity for the program I've been getting together that focuses on what is unique and valuable about alternative aquatics.

It's also aimed at encouraging alternative practitioners to devise record-keeping systems (anecdotal/ questionnaires/etc.) for their work. I think this would greatly help any more elaborate studies that might be possible in the future.

I'd really love to seek your help (and that of other teachers) in promoting that too. Perhaps we can get together again soon and work out a mutually beneficial way to do this.

Meanwhile, all the best with getting your website up and running. On my way now, Sulis

Hi Diane - Just been re-reading the draft article on aquatic trauma you shared with me earlier this year. Any progress with that? It's such good and inspiring work. Please let me know if there are any ways in which I can help you and Inika forward your insights and practice. I'll be giving the potential in it a mention in my presentations at the ATRI Conference in Chicago this week. Will report back. In the flow, Sulis

Hoping that Harbin is staying out of the smoke. I recall it was the same last year when I thought I would visit and so perhaps it is just as well again. Even so, I am sorry to miss the chance to connect with you and will look forward to the next opportunity! Looking forward also to your book and website. S

Yes, Jurgita is here for professional and personal development.
Susan Levenstein is in Italy--she's an MD who is lamenting the recent closure of her only accessible pool. She enjoyed being a resource to me and we're still in contact. slevenstein@compuserve.com

Thanks, Diane. Jurgita Sveda (Lithuania--may have mispelled her last name) has been of great help to many women and is taking her Watsu instructor training soon. She may be a good resource for you, as would the midwifery/doulah/waterbirth community in general, of course. She is at Kripalu in Lenox, MA right now and then I think she's headed to San Diego for ITC. jurga@svedas.net is her email. SHe has produced 2 fascinating DVDs. One is called 'Women's Secret' ('Secret de Femmes'); a must have for any water woman's DVD library.

DIane, thank you so much for your response to my blog Being in the Water. I would be very interested to talk to you some more about the classes you offer, and your experience in Italy. In my Feldenkrais work I see a lot of dancers and in fact will be in Le Marche next summer teaching at a dance intensive. It would be fascinating to experience water work there too...

Thanks for responding to my invitation Diane - you'll find lots of folk you know here I think, including Inika. Started by Andrea Salzman, it's evolving into a very inspiring mix of people who love the therapeutic power of water. As you find your way around, you'll see that there are plenty of ways to make it your own and to reach out to let people know about what you are doing. You can even start your own Group. Just click on the tabs at the top of the page to explore more, and visit the Forum for further guidance or contact me. Welcome! Sulis
