Thanks for adding these photos Christine and especially for including descriptions which so many others overlook - it's great to know more about what is being shown. Such as the delight of someone falling asleep in your arms. I once had a regular client who could acheive this almost the instant he went up into float position!
Hello Hilary!
I too am using the A.T. Sometimes i tell people what i am doing, sometimes i let them ask. I always get amazing feedback from my receivers which is partly due to Watsu and partly to the Alexander Technique. Thank you for the link to the study.
I am just setting up my practice in Canberra (or will be when i get back on 10 February). I graduated at the School for FM Alexander Studies in Melbourne in Dec 2005 and i've just finished Watsu quals in Mexico. I am currently visiting my mother in Calgary.
Hi Christine - Welcome!
How wonderful we have the shared disciplines of A.T and Watsu. I am incorporating Alexander Principles in my Watsu teaching and I think it makes such a difference to the receiver's experience of Watsu. There's been fantasic new research here in Uk re.chronic back pain and A.T lessons..it came out top in a clinical study see www.bmj.com. At last some recognition!
I have known of persons who sponsored and taught caregivers and those being given care to share Watsu(R)
It provides a sense of sharing and giving back for the caregiver to receive....
Other thought: to provide another opportunity nearby for the car…
This group is for discussions about the practice and promotion of aquatic bodywork in spas, other leisure settings, and private venues. A place to share some of the issues faced and support each other.
For pediatric aquatic therapists/instructors who work with children on the autism spectrum. We will be sharing our coolest treatment ideas and creating a mock protocol for the infant, toddler, and school aged child demonstrating autism traits.
