Hello again,

After reading about your "Our History" and seeing that your goal for 2009 is to unit Canada, I thought I'd send you this link.

www.thewaters.ca

Claudia Salzmann ( neat eh?) instructed me along with 3 other RMTs in her pool in Ontario. She is a hero for me, as she opted not to trade mark aquatic massage therapy (the adaptation of a mix of Wausu and Jahara) to our scope of practice for the greater good of our profession.

I have already sent the invite to her, to some collegues as well.

Thanks again.

Hello Andrea,
Thanks so much for creating this web site. It's truely amazing, I found this by accident, and feel as though a whole new world has opened up for me! Aquatic Massage Therapy has been one of the best things that has happened to me. I am certainly one of those that gets to go to work feeling like im going to play. Looking forward to talking with everyone and learning all that I can.

Are RMT's allowed to take the Pediatric courses? I couldn't see any prerquisit information that mentioned you need to be a PT.

Splish Splash!

We did talk to Laurie briefly about our pools, so I'm sure we'll be in touch more about that! Our health system is currently building a new therapy pool and I imagine that location is probably where we would hold a conference. I don't know what the expected completion date is, but we'll keep our eye on it.

Thanks, Andrea. I like your new setup . . . so much more depth than an e-list alone, and a great way to stay up on so many different things going on.

I currently work with 3 children on the spectrum. I have come across different challenges with each child. One thing I have found to be a common thread is an increase in self confidence and a new found desire to succeed at something. Without the immediate effects of gravity my kiddos are discovering what it is like to recieve feedback from their bodies with enough time to alter the motor output. This along with the proprioceptive input the water provides has proven to improve overall body awareness and bilateral coordination. I would also point out a another common thread in relationship to the calming effect caused by emersing the ears in water. All of the kids I work with on the spectrum have a new found love of tiltiing their head back to emmerse their ears which produces a very calm like state visible on their faces! On land many times the kiddos will have an aversion to tilting their head back, which imedes vestibular processing, this is an area I would like to further research and make observation.
