I would love to attend the training! anytime. I like the idea of forming an aquatic bodywork research center and it looks like we could create a strong team of researchers here :)
Does anyone here have contact with the Miami Touch Research Institute? They have conducted lots of research on massage and other forms of touch therapy, but so far there is nothing about aquatic bodywork. http://www6.miami.edu/TOUCH-RESEARCH/about.h…
Whether you are doing research, interested in doing it, wishing it were being done, or just wondering whether it's useful - this is the place to share your ideas and issues and questions.
I work for Adriatic Therapies, www.adriatictherapies.com, based in Tucson, Arizona. A main component of what we do is Aquatic Massage training and certification. I am an Aquatic Massage Therapist and Licensed Massage Therapist living in Tucson, Arizona.
Your discipline or title (PT, OT, CTRS, ATC, SLP, Watsu practitioner, adapted aquatics instructor, whatever!)
I'm not yet qualified to teach, but I organize and schedule Aquatic Massage courses for the Aquatic Massage organization www.aquaticmassage.com.

What unique products or services do you offer:
I am interested in connecting with other aquatic therapists who may be interested in hosting or participating in aquatic massage courses. I am also interested in designing and conducting research on aquatic massage for persons with PTSD.
Did you ever find a pool in Ireland? I'd love to come and teach there if you know anyone who is interested in learning Watsu? I teach basic Watsu and co teach Watsu 1 so far!
Hi Aly - Don't despair, you are breaking new ground that's all.
I just did a quick search www.findapool.com (part of this network) and came across only one listing for Ireland which is out of date but you might be bold and just call. The reference implies that the person was interested in rehab.

You also need to make connection with Hilary Austin who just joined this network and has been teaching basic Watsu in various small venues in the UK - so she'll have some good ideas for where to look.
Finally, spas will be taking a different approach. There are lots of listings for spa venues on the internet ... you might start with SpaFinder.
As for how to approach these places, this is something that will be covered at some point hopefully soon on my website, with regard to non-clinically orientated venues.
So, you might like to subscribe there or just keep on eye on my page here.
Hello Aly - Because this is an aquatic therapy site we generally only include water-related or therapy-related photos in the main selection. That selection is rotated on the main page for general viewing.
So, I've selected two of the lovely scenic ones you posted (perhaps you'll add descriptions).
For more personal ones, you can upload these as your profile pic and perhaps rotate them to share with friends.
You can also insert them in blog postings on this page (use the photo image you see above each post entry) and write a bit about what they mean to you personally for your friends to see.
Hope this makes sense. Looks like you love living in Ireland!
Hello Aly and welcome! Thanks for posting a discussion to get things going ... that's the best way to connect here.
We're rather lacking in UK and European folk. You'll see that if you do a search under Members using the country names. But you'll find my friend Jem Tayle who practices in Bath and I'm trying to entice a few others (I used to live in Bath, UK, also).
Also Stephanie Dutton who works between the UK and the US I believe. You can find them by searching under Members with their names.
You can also link yourself here with Adrianne by going to her profile page and clicking Add as a friend on the top left.
I noticed that the web address you gave has a slight misspelling so please correct that as soon as you can.
It's great that you are helping to promote this work and great to have you here.
I have known of persons who sponsored and taught caregivers and those being given care to share Watsu(R)
It provides a sense of sharing and giving back for the caregiver to receive....
Other thought: to provide another opportunity nearby for the car…
This group is for discussions about the practice and promotion of aquatic bodywork in spas, other leisure settings, and private venues. A place to share some of the issues faced and support each other.
For pediatric aquatic therapists/instructors who work with children on the autism spectrum. We will be sharing our coolest treatment ideas and creating a mock protocol for the infant, toddler, and school aged child demonstrating autism traits.
