Fellow member, and experienced Watsu practioner and trainer, Andrew Yavelow, has offered for discussion and sharing, the following YouTube video on a phenomenon known in the practice as 'Watsu sharking' (click this link to see the video).
'Watsu sharking' refers to a practitioner taking advantage (often sexually) of a client receiving aquatic bodywork whose boundaries may be rendered wide-open by the experience and who may be subject to transference (click link for more).
The video has a light-hearted tone but is about a very serious issue of which both givers and receivers of this work should be aware. Several instructors have found this useful to show in their classes. Contact Yavelow for more. Add your comments/experiences here.
I have known of persons who sponsored and taught caregivers and those being given care to share Watsu(R)

This group is for discussions about the practice and promotion of aquatic bodywork in spas, other leisure settings, and private venues. A place to share some of the issues faced and support each other.
