AquaticNet Social Network

Hello

Right now we have five Groups in our network allowing for more specific discussion focus. These Groups are concerned with: Autism, Cancer, ADHD, Personal training, and Aquatic Bodywork (Watsu-based). Under the Group tab on each page just click on a Group name to read the description and discussions.

Obviously there is scope for more Groups (see below for some general areas yet to be covered). Any member can create a Group but please be willing to facilitate it with your interest and energy. We will give you as much help as we can, including promoting your new offering to the network.

Apart from inviting some of you directly to share your particular interests by forming a Group, we hope that many of you will be proactive and just have go. (You can always close the Group if it doesn't work out but hopefully this won't be necessary.)

You might think of forming a Group concerned with:

* a condition that responds to aquatics

(e.g. Multiple Sclerosis, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Back Pain, Cerebral Palsy)

* an aquatics technique

(e.g. Burdenko, Halliwick, Watsu, Ai Chi)

* aquatic equipment

(e.g. flotation devices, hoists and carriers)

* a specialty with aquatic applications

(e.g. Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy)

* an area of application for aquatics

(e.g. car and work accidents, body image)

* an aquatics setting

(e.g. private venues, clinics, public pools, spas)

* a region of aquatic practitioners

(e.g. Asia, Europe, Canada, US)

* aquatic issues

(e.g. water quality, water safety, self-care for practitioners, therapeutic properties of water, ethics)

Here are some basic answers to practical questions you might have:

How do I join a Group?

Click on the Groups tab at the top of any page. Click on the Group that interests you. On each group page there will be a link in the top right where you can join the group.

How do I create a Group?

First decide on a group name and image, and write a short description of the group. Please make this as clear and specific as possible. You can run it by the group creator (Andrea) or moderator (Sulis) if you wish.

Then, go to the network's Groups tab and click the link at the top right of the page to "Create a Group". Type in your group name, upload your image, add your group description of the group, choose features.

Finally, click "Create Group" and start inviting existing network members (or new members) to your group! It's a good idea to start off a Discussion and to check in on it regularly (elect to be alerted about new Comments).

How do I edit my group name, logo, or description?

If you want to edit a group you created, go to that group's page. Here you can edit the group's text box, adding text, videos, photos or widgets to customize your group page. To edit the group's features, in the Admin Options box you'll find the "Edit Group" link. You can change the name, description and logo of your group, as well as edit information about your external website.

Good to see people joining Groups.

Thanks Inika for starting Healing Dancers to welcome the many new folk you have brought to the network. Inika teaches Healing Dance and this is a good example of a group concerned with a particular modality. If Halliwick is your passion, for example, you can start your own Group for that.

I have just created Spas Plus for those who work in or want to work in 'leisure' settings. Once a group is formed you can invite people directly to join. And then it's good to start discussing - see my first Discussion there.

There are now quite a few people from different regions, and you might also consider setting up your own groups. Another way you can create a kind of group is with your Friends - send messages to them only and discuss that way too.

In the flow, Sulis

I have known of persons who sponsored and taught caregivers and those being given care to share Watsu(R) It provides a sense of sharing and giving back for the caregiver to receive.... Other thought: to provide another opportunity nearby for the car…
